Carrie Dorr is a systems designer, entrepreneur, and founder whose work focuses on movement, wellbeing, education, and community impact.
Over the past twenty-five years, she has founded and built companies, educational platforms, and nonprofit organizations that reflect her belief in the power of well-designed systems to create lasting change. Throughout her career, Carrie has created movement systems, business systems, educational systems, and community systems that help individuals and organizations improve health and wellbeing.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Carrie spent seven years as a professional dancer and choreographer, performing in and choreographing large-scale productions for events including the Super Bowl, the Olympic Games, national parades, and entertainment productions across the country. During that time, she simultaneously earned both her business degree and law degree, developing the unique blend of creativity, structure, and strategic thinking that would later define her work.
In 2001, before boutique fitness became a mainstream industry, Carrie opened a small barre studio in a 600-square-foot basement space. That concept evolved into Pure Barre, one of the most influential brands in boutique fitness. Under her leadership, the company expanded to more than 100 locations before she sold the business in 2012. The brand has since grown into a nationwide franchise network and helped introduce barre training to millions of people.
Following Pure Barre, Carrie continued creating and developing concepts designed to improve how people move, learn, and live. She created O44 and her current movement method, both of which integrate strength, cardio, mobility, and balance through simple, disciplined systems that support sustainable health. Through Unhyped Health, she creates practical wellbeing guides that simplify complex health topics into actionable frameworks for individuals and families.
Her commitment to community impact has been equally central to her work. Over the course of her career, Carrie has founded three nonprofit organizations—Live n’ Give, Soul Day Foundation, and Well Day Foundation.
In addition to building organizations, Carrie serves as an advisor, board member, and speaker. She has advised founders and emerging brands, served on nonprofit and corporate boards, and spoken for universities, MBA programs, leadership groups, and industry organizations on topics including entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, wellbeing, and building mission-driven organizations.
Carrie earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University, graduating with high honors. She lives in Marin County, California, with her husband, three children, and Labrador!
